On Sunday, August 27, Jeffrey Harris, a 38-year-old White man, attempted to enter the Greater Dominion Church in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, a predominantly Black congregation. When he was denied entry due to overcrowding, Harris pulled out a 12-gauge shotgun and pointed it at two women just steps away from the church. A witness alerted local police about the incident.

Upon investigating Harris’ residence, authorities discovered crystal meth, firearms, a note detailing his plans for a mass shooting, and a suspected explosive device. The discovery of these items bears similarities to previous cases involving individuals who committed hate crimes.

Harris is being held in Beaver County jail on $975,000 bail.
