Arrest Made in Identity Theft Case in Maiden, North Carolina

A Pennsylvania woman, Erica Marie Madiac, 34, was arrested by Maiden Police in North Carolina last week for identity theft. Madiac was taken into custody along with Jaquan Garner, 25, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The arrest followed a vehicle pursuit, during which Madiac and Garner attempted to flee from the police. The pursuit ended in Lincoln County, where the suspects were apprehended after a brief foot chase.

Investigations revealed that Madiac and Garner were using stolen identities to obtain funds from bank accounts at People’s Bank. Madiac was also wanted in Pennsylvania on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges. Both suspects were booked into the Catawba County Detention Facility. Madiac’s bond was set at $75,000, while Garner’s bond was set at $50,000. They remained in jail as of September 1st and were scheduled to appear in district court on September 4th. Madiac also has court dates in Lincoln County on September 12th and Catawba County on September 21st.
