Arrest Made in Connection to Death of Indigenous Woman Mika Westwolf on Montana Highway

Sunny K. White, 28, has been arrested in connection to the death of Mika Josephine Westwolf, 22, who was struck and killed while walking along Highway 93 near Arlee on March 31. Westwolf’s family and Lake County Sheriff Don Bell confirmed White’s arrest on Saturday morning. White was taken into custody on an extra-jurisdiction warrant and is currently being held in Kalispell, Montana. Her court date is scheduled for Monday, October 23.

The specific charges against White have not been disclosed at this time. However, Lake County Attorney James Lapotka previously identified White as the suspect in May. The Lake County Attorneys Office has not provided any further comment on the matter.

White has two young children named Aryan and Nation, who were suspected to have been in the car at the time of the incident, according to a crash report from the Montana Highway Patrol.

This arrest comes after seven months of limited developments in Westwolf’s case. Her mother confirmed the apprehension of White in a Facebook post, stating that White is expected to be transferred to Polson, Montana, to face charges related to Westwolf’s death.
