An armored truck guard was shot during a robbery outside a check cashing business in Dallas on Friday morning, according to the Dallas Police Department. The incident occurred in the 100 block of South Carroll Avenue around 9:25 a.m. The owner of Big Jim’s Check Cashing business, who was present at the time, stated that he and the guard were the only individuals inside the store during the incident. The owner reported that two individuals wearing all-black masks arrived in a small white car and brandished large guns.
The robbers demanded money from the guard, who refused. In response, the guard was shot in the back. The business owner recounted that the suspects fired six shots, narrowly missing him. The robbers fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Big Jim’s Check Cashing business is equipped with an extensive surveillance camera system, which investigators are currently reviewing.
The injured armored truck guard was transported to the hospital and is currently in critical condition, as confirmed by the Dallas Police Department.
