An armed man hijacked a Metro bus on Wednesday night, resulting in a series of collisions and a dramatic crash into the side of the Ritz-Carlton hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The incident unfolded when the suspect boarded the bus at the intersection of 7th and Spring streets around 11:40 p.m. Officer David Cuellar from the Los Angeles Police Department provided details of the event.
Shortly after boarding, the hijacker approached the bus driver, brandishing an airsoft gun. Under duress, the driver was forced to continue the route, with the bus colliding with multiple vehicles along the way. At one point, a struggle ensued between the hijacker and the driver for control of the steering wheel. The chaotic situation culminated in the bus crashing into the side of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, located at West Olympic Boulevard and Georgia Street.
Following the crash, the armed suspect fled the scene. However, law enforcement swiftly located and apprehended the individual. Two individuals were transported to the hospital via ambulance due to injuries sustained during the incident, as confirmed by Officer Cuellar. Los Angeles County Metro, the transportation agency responsible for the bus, has not yet provided a comment on the matter.
