Actor Steve Buscemi Spotted with Injuries Following Random Attack in Kips Bay

Beloved actor Steve Buscemi was seen with visible injuries, including a black eye and bruising on his chin, during his first public appearance since being assaulted in a random attack in Kips Bay last week. The 66-year-old “Boardwalk Empire” star was spotted shooting a commercial in Soho on Saturday, where he displayed the aftermath of the unprovoked assault. Photos taken over the weekend captured Buscemi engaging in conversation with crew members along Mott and Prince streets at approximately 5:25 p.m.

The attack occurred on Wednesday when an unidentified assailant approached Buscemi in broad daylight and struck him without any apparent reason. The NYPD has confirmed that the attacker remains at large. In a statement released on Sunday, Buscemi’s publicist acknowledged the incident, stating, “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city. He is OK and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to him while also walking the streets of New York.”

Buscemi, a Brooklyn native, is not only known for his successful acting career but also for his previous service as a New York City firefighter. His filmography spans several decades and includes notable roles in acclaimed movies such as “Fargo,” “Reservoir Dogs,” and “The Big Lebowski.” He gained significant recognition for his portrayal of corrupt Atlantic City politician Enoch “Nucky” Thompson in the hit HBO series “Boardwalk Empire.”

This unfortunate incident marks the second attack on a cast member from “Boardwalk Empire” in the city. On March 31, actor Michael Stuhbarg was jogging on the Upper East Side when he was assaulted by a vagrant who struck him with a rock.

As the investigation continues, the NYPD has released surveillance photos of Buscemi’s attacker. The incident has raised concerns about random acts of violence in New York City, where even well-known figures like Buscemi are not immune to such incidents.
