Actor and right-wing political activist Laurence Fox was arrested in London on Wednesday on suspicion of conspiring to commit criminal damage to ULEZ cameras. The arrest was made by the Metropolitan Police, who stated that a 45-year-old man was taken into custody in Stockwell and remains in custody at a South London police station. The arrest followed Fox’s comments during an interview on the video platform Rumble, where he seemed to encourage vandalism of the cameras.
In addition to his arrest, Fox has been fired from his position as a presenter on GB News. The decision came after Fox made misogynistic comments about journalist Ava Evans during an appearance on Dan Wootton’s show. The comments received over 8,000 complaints and triggered an investigation by communications regulator Ofcom. GB News announced the termination of its employment relationship with Fox and Calvin Robinson, who was also suspended pending internal investigations.
Fox, who ran for mayor of London in 2021, had previously expressed his support for free speech and criticized GB News for not defending it. The investigation into Dan Wootton, who was also suspended, is still ongoing.
