Actor Jonathan Majors’ Abuse Trial Begins, Ex-Girlfriend Testifies

Actor Jonathan Majors’ trial over alleged abuse towards his former partner, Grace Jabbari, commenced on Monday at Manhattan Criminal Court in New York. During Tuesday’s hearing, Jabbari testified that she was “scared” of Majors and described instances of alleged violence during their relationship.

Jabbari recounted an incident in December 2021 when she mentioned her ex-boyfriend’s dog, which reportedly led Majors to berate her and express embarrassment over her past relationship. She stated, “It was the first time I felt scared of him. I knew to never mention my ex again or anyone I had dated before.”

Another alleged incident occurred in September 2022 in England. Jabbari testified that after going to a bar with a female friend, she invited her friend back to their shared home. Majors became irate, confronting Jabbari and allegedly stepping on her earphones while calling her “stupid.” He then reportedly told her to leave the house before proceeding to their bedroom and breaking objects.

Majors was arrested on March 25 following a domestic dispute with Jabbari while they were in a taxi returning from a bar in Brooklyn. He is facing charges of misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, and harassment. Majors has pleaded not guilty and maintained his innocence throughout the case.

Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, has claimed that Jabbari was the aggressor in the cab and labeled her a jealous and “psycho” girlfriend who was upset about Majors texting another woman. In October, Jabbari was charged with assault and criminal mischief for the March incident, but prosecutors are expected to dismiss the charges against her.

The trial is scheduled to run for two weeks. If convicted, Majors could face up to a year in prison.
