A 78-year-old man in Volusia County, Florida, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing his neighbor during a property dispute. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in DeLeon Springs.
According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Brian J. Ford, 42, was trimming trees over his property line when his neighbor, 78-year-old Edward S. Druwzolowski, confronted him. Druwzolowski reportedly told authorities that Ford initially told him to “mind your business” when asked to leave the property.
Druwzolowski claimed that Ford moved closer to him after he pointed a gun at him. He stated that he had left the first two rounds of his six-cylinder gun empty for safety reasons. Despite hearing the gun click when Druwzolowski pulled the trigger the first time, Ford allegedly continued to approach him. Druwzolowski then fired a shot, fatally injuring Ford.
The first two deputies who arrived at the scene attempted to revive Ford, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Druwzolowski was taken into custody and now faces charges of second-degree murder.
