61-Year-Old Man Kidnapped Outside Midway City Home, Suspects Arrested but Victim Still Missing

Orange County sheriff’s investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 61-year-old man who was reportedly kidnapped by two individuals outside his residence in Midway City. The victim, Tony Lam, has been missing since the incident occurred last week. Although suspects have been apprehended, authorities have yet to locate Lam.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Lam returned home shortly after midnight on March 15 after visiting LV Restaurant & Lounge in Westminster and the 171 Sky Restaurant in Garden Grove. It remains unclear why these restaurant visits are relevant to the investigation. Upon his arrival, Lam was confronted by a masked assailant in his driveway, who proceeded to assault him before forcibly taking him to a waiting vehicle. A witness in the vicinity of Hunter Lane and Madison Avenue promptly contacted the police.

Law enforcement officials have arrested two men, Nhan Nguyen, 49, and Phi Nguyen, 53, on charges of aggravated kidnapping. Nhan Nguyen was taken into custody on March 15, while Phi Nguyen was apprehended on Tuesday. Both suspects have been charged with felony kidnapping for ransom/extortion, robbery, or a sex crime. However, they have not yet entered a plea, as indicated by court records. Despite their arrests, the whereabouts of Tony Lam remain unknown, as the suspects have not cooperated with investigators in disclosing his location.

Authorities have not disclosed the methods used to identify the two suspects or any potential motives behind the kidnapping. Tony Lam is described as approximately 5 foot 7 inches tall, weighing around 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.
