6 Arrested in Assassination of Ecuador Presidential Candidate Fernando Villavicencio

Six suspects have been arrested in connection with the assassination of Ecuador presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio. Villavicencio was shot and killed at a rally on Wednesday while campaigning against cartels and corruption. The Los Lobos criminal gang has claimed responsibility for the attack. Additionally, one suspect died following a shootout with authorities. The country’s attorney general confirmed the arrests and ongoing investigation.
