AURORA, CO – The Aurora Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old male driver wanted in connection with a fatal rollover crash on Interstate 225. The incident, which occurred on March 30, resulted in the death of a 15-year-old girl and left four other teenagers injured.
According to authorities, the crash took place around 7:30 a.m. on Northbound I-225 at Alameda. The vehicle involved in the accident, a stolen 2016 Kia Sorrento, rolled over, ejecting all five occupants. Emergency services rushed the injured teenagers to the hospital, where one of them tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
The Aurora Police Traffic Section has identified speed as the primary factor contributing to the crash. However, investigations are ongoing to determine whether seatbelt usage, alcohol, or drugs played a role in the incident.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the 17-year-old male driver, who faces charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and two counts of motor vehicle theft. Due to his age, the identity of the suspect will not be disclosed.
