16-Year-Old Nebraska Girl Charged with First-Degree Murder After Allegedly Stabbing Newborn

A 16-year-old girl from Gordon, Nebraska has been charged with first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony after allegedly stabbing her newborn to death. The incident occurred on November 6 when a Gordon Police officer responded to a report of a teenage girl giving birth and the baby not breathing.

Upon arrival, the officer found the girl’s mother holding an infant wrapped in a towel. The mother was reportedly hysterically crying and stated that her daughter had hurt the baby. The officer observed that the child’s throat had been cut through the windpipe and there were multiple stab wounds on the left side of the chest.

CPR was initiated until emergency medical services arrived. Witnesses reported seeing the girl open a drawer that usually contained a boning knife. The knife was later found by the baby’s father wrapped in a coat and hidden in a container in the girl’s closet. The knife had blood on the blade and handle and has been sent for further testing.

The 16-year-old girl is currently in custody without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
