A 12-year-old boy from Texas has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing a 59-year-old woman at her residence. The incident took place in Houston, Harris County, Texas, and has shocked the local community.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed the arrest and booking of the young suspect, who is currently in custody at Harris County Juvenile. The boy’s 7-year-old brother, who was present during the attack, is not legally responsible for the crime, according to Gonzalez. Child protective services have been notified about the incident.
Video footage obtained by KHOU revealed that the two boys initially engaged in an argument with the victim before leaving on their bicycles. However, they returned shortly after, wearing surgical gloves, and the older boy allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times. The victim, whose mental health history has led to previous confrontations in the neighborhood, was critically injured and rushed to the hospital.
The boys’ mother expressed her apologies to the victim, acknowledging her older son’s mental health issues. In an interview with KPRC, she stated, “I’m sorry to the family. I’m very sorry that my son committed the incident. And I’m praying for your health, for your wellness.”
The victim’s brother, who arrived at the scene to check on his sister, promptly contacted the police. Investigator Sergio Torres commended his timely intervention, stating, “He just came at the right time, opened the door, and saw that she was stabbed.”
Neighbors in the area, while frustrated by the incident, have shown understanding and patience. Maddy Monsalve, a resident, mentioned that the victim’s mental health issues have caused previous disturbances, leading to multiple calls to the police.
