11-Year-Old Texas Girl Missing, Person of Interest Identified

Texas authorities are intensifying their search for 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham, who went missing last Thursday after failing to board her school bus near her home in Polk County. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has identified Don Steven McDougal, 42, as a person of interest in the case. McDougal was taken into custody on Friday for an unrelated charge of aggravated assault.

Audrii Cunningham, described as a 4’1″ girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, was last seen wearing black pants and a black hoodie. She was carrying a distinctive bright red “Hello Kitty” style backpack, which was found near Lake Livingston Dam. The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed that McDougal’s dark blue 2003 Chevy Suburban is believed to be connected to Cunningham’s disappearance.

Audrii’s worried mother, Cassie Matthews, expressed her distress, stating that Audrii’s sudden disappearance is out of character and that she has a loving family who adores her. Currently residing with her father and grandmother, Audrii has a promising future ahead of her, and her family is desperate for her safe return.

Multiple agencies, including the FBI, are assisting the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in the active and ongoing investigation. Authorities, along with the community, gathered near the lake on Sunday to pray for Audrii’s safe return. The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering a $7,000 reward for any information related to the case.

While investigators continue to follow leads, there are no significant updates to report at this time. However, law enforcement remains grateful for the tips received and the collective efforts in the search for Audrii.
