11-Year-Old Audrii Cunningham Still Missing as Person of Interest Arrested

SAN JACINTO COUNTY, Texas — The search for 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham continues as Texas investigators arrested a person of interest on unrelated charges. The Department of Public Safety confirmed the arrest of 42-year-old Don Steven McDougal on Saturday. McDougal’s dark blue 2003 Chevrolet Suburban has been identified as a vehicle of interest in Audrii’s disappearance.

Authorities have offered a $7,000 reward for any information regarding Audrii’s whereabouts. While it remains unclear if Audrii was last seen with McDougal, investigators have identified multiple persons of interest in the case. The search for Audrii has been ongoing, with law enforcement scouring various locations in San Jacinto County since Friday.

Audrii’s mother, Cassie Matthews, spoke with ABC13 Eyewitness News in Houston, expressing her concerns. Matthews revealed that investigators had discovered Audrii’s backpack near the Lake Livingston Dam, but there have been no signs of the missing girl. DPS confirmed that the backpack indeed belongs to Audrii.

Audrii was last seen on Lakeside Drive around 7 a.m. on Thursday, not far from her father’s residence. Neighbors reported that she typically walked to the bus stop accompanied by a dog, but this routine did not occur on Thursday. Matthews stated, “She was allegedly dropped off at her bus stop, and later on, we come to learn that she never even made it on the bus.”

Lt. Craig Cummings of the Texas Department of Public Safety mentioned that there is additional undisclosed information being used by investigators to follow up on leads. He urged anyone with information about Audrii’s whereabouts to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at 936-327-6810.
